Three-Herb Loaf

Made this to go with the Pulled-Pork and Navy Bean Soup.  It twas a an incredible pairing.  Based on a recipe I found in Great American Home Baking Book 1, I neglected to follow my fundemental rule of following the recipe completely the first time through, then augment as needed.  Nevertheless, since I was using a bread machine, I felt it necessary to make a few adjustments.

Time Required:  30 minutes Preparation, 3 hours 10 minutes in the bread maker.

Makes one loaf.

  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 1/4 cups warm milk
  • 2 tsp Granulated Sugar
  • 1 pkg Active Dry Yeast
----------
  • 1 Tbsp Dried Thyme
  • 1 Tbsp Dried Rosemary
  • 1 Tbsp Died Rubbed Sage
  • 1 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 4 cups Bread Flour-Sift into measuring cup
  1. In a Pyrex 2-cup liquid measuring cup, combine the water and milk.
  2. Add the sugar and yeast.
  3. Place Pyrex container in a sauce pan with water and heat until the temperature reaches 110 degrees stirring occasionally.
  4. Pour the liquid into the bread machine pan.
  5. Add the remaining ingredients.
  6. Let the bread machine do its thang.
